This study unveils the socio demographic profile of rural women and their involvement in projects in communities of Southwestern Nigeria. The objectives of this study are to assess the living condition of the rural women in southwestern Nigeria, find out the types of projects that are initiated and implemented in rural communities of South western Nigeria and find out how interested these rural women are in these projects. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. A multi-stage sampling technique was used to select seven hundred and twenty rural women from three states namely: Ondo, Osun and Ogun, using random sampling technique. The study used both qualitative and quantitative methods to collect and analyse data. The findings show among others the myriad of problems faced by the rural women starting from their lack of capacity to initiate or significantly influence decisions that will impact their lives to neglect by decision makers and general disempowerment due to their poor economic status.
