This paper is on mechanisms for strengthening community peace building for democracy and national development in Nigeria. The paper rays that community peace is a parameter that can make democracy to thrive in Nigeria, and that as a system of governance, it has the potentials to engender social and economic development in the country. The paper identifies the youth, family and educational institution as mechanisms and agents of community peace-building and instruments of community mobilization for promoting peace in Nigeria. It, therefore, recommends that agencies of government like the National Orientation Agency (NOA), and the Federal Ministry of Information should collaborate by designing programmess that would sensitise the citizens towards the need for peaceful co-existence in the various communities of the nation.
