This paper examined social entrepreneurship and urban renewal in Nigeria. The paper showed how social entrepreneurship integrates individual’s behaviour, interaction and the transformation of cultural and social institutions overtime for the betterment of the urban communities. The paper highlighted approaches of urban renewal namely: redevelopment, rehabilitation and integration to support the improvement of sustainable urban renewal practices through social entrepreneurs and other agents of social change. It concluded that urban renewal in Nigeria requires a detailed understanding of how to improve social change in communities to achieve sustainability. It was suggested that there should be a regular appraisal of urban renewal strategies to enhance the integration of innovation practice for the achievement of sustainable development.
