The enduring conflict between farmers and herders poses a significant threat

to social cohesion and economic stability in many parts of Nigeria. This paper explores a multifaceted approach to transforming these adversarial relationships into cooperative ones by leveraging community policing, effective communication, and adult education. The paper discusses the benefits, challenges, and practical implementation of these strategies, providing policymakers and community leaders with actionable insights to foster lasting peace and cooperation. By integrating these three strategies, a comprehensive framework is proposed for enhancing farmers-herders’ relations. The paper concludes that this approach, not only addresses immediate security concerns through community policing, but also fosters long-term understanding and collaboration via effective communication and adult education. Its recommendations among others include, policymakers should establish dedicated community policing units with specialized training in conflict resolution and cultural competency related to farmers-herders’ relations.
